Asus Eee Pc 1000he Or Something Else? Which Is Better For A Student Who Wants To Use A Cheap But Good Laptop?

I love to listen to music on my PC, I don’t really play games but the notebooks out there are all so expensive. How I can choose wisely and have the (almost) flawless notebook/netbook out there?
The laptop (or whichever name you wish to call) must have good battery life, fast processor, don’t heat up quickly and all that a laptop must have.

  1. Asus 1008HA: 6 hours of battery, nice keyboard, slim and lighthttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0029QM…
ASUS Eee PC 1000HE: The People’s Champ. 9 hours of battery, ok keyboard, a little chubbyhttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001QTX…

  2. The netbooks are great for taking with you on a weekend trip, or taking notes in class, then coming home and syncing it up with your desktop. As a primary computer, they just don’t cut it, in my opinion. The screen is tiny, the keyboard is tiny, there is no dvd drive, and the processor and overall performance is about equal with a laptop made 10 years ago. Don’t get me wrong, for what they are made for, they are pretty cool, which is the ability to stash a windows machine in your carry on or book bag. If you have your desktop at home, they are ok.
In my opinion, for someone on a budget, I would suggest getting a refurbished unit from http://www.dellauction.com They are refurbished at the factory, and come with Dell’s one year warranty. And you can get a decent laptop with a 14 or 15 inch screen for under $300 that will run circles around that netbook.

  3. i have the acer aspire one it cost me $425 at wal-mart that was with 2 year extended warranty and i use it for word processing , surfing the web, proramming, and other things my wife uses hers for playing games so you figure out what ya need but we love ours 1 gig ram /160 gig hard drive/ resolution 1024×600 we (as totally disabled couple can carry them around with no problem) i have a desktop and a hp laptop with a 15 inch screen but i use my netbook more then the others even for typing things up while doing research in a library this netbook is going to be the computer i use for mapping and doing my logbooks when i go back to driving truck cross country i will carry my hp with me but my netbook will be used most of the time
