Asus Eee Pc 4gb Surf?
I recently bought an Asus Eee PC 4GB Surf. I was wondering (I want to use it for programming) Should I install Windows XP on it or should I keep the linux. If I program in C++ in linux can I run that program Source Code on windows? Or is the Kernel different??
Also Which will take up more resources? Will installing XP slow my PC down?
Should I just stick with Linux and program on that?
Thanks
Yes you can easily run winxp on it. but i would suggest going for the 8gb model or maybe expand your storage using an external usb drive or sd card. because when you install xp on it, you will be left with a lil over 1.5 gig space for other softwares.
Search on the net, you will find a lot of reviews, that have installed and run xp on it, and it yet boots faster than other laptops. Dont feel you will have a slow machine. it will be more than adequate.
yes the draw back that you can feel is that the keyboard will be a lil cramped, and might a problem for long durations of typing. so do try that out once. Battery life and everything else, is more that enough for your work, getting about 2hr 45 mins on regular use, minus any video or audio.
Windows is a resource hog! How much room does a Windows OS take? How much ram? What about processor? Linux can run on practically Nothin’! Thousands of free programs. OpenOffice kicks M’s to the curb! Stick with Linux! (Besides, check these vids out on what your little Eee can do!)
