I had the exact same asus, and i hated linux. After days of downloading drivers, connecting my desktop to my eee pc, and doing everything short of taking my computer apart i just couldnt figure out how to get windows xp onto my netbook (netbooks only work with xp or linux) so i traded it in for an upgraded model and ended up getting the MSI Wind netbook, which is a much better deal for me.
You could, but there’s no reason to upgrade to Vista- the 900 mHz Celeron M353 processor in it WOULD have issues running Vista, especially since it is not 1GHz (the minimum speed to run Vista). You really would be much better sticking with XP.
Also, if you don’t like Linux, why did you get the version that had Linux on it? I do believe that there is a version that comes with XP on it. Or, you could have upgraded to the 904HA or any model with XP on it.
Since the eee pc doesn’t have a cdrom drive you will either have to get a cdrom drive to install XP (the easier way) or use a usb flash drive to install it (the harder way).
Below are links on how to install xp on the eee pc.
Hey, the people above look like they have a bit more knowledge than I do, but I checked out google and came up with this:
Windows 7 on EeePC 900: Video and guide
Windows 7 is windows new beta version, still out for testing. It’s availiable for free, too. But expect some glitches. That’s the closest to vista I think you’ll get.
Goodluck,
Mike
Yes, it’ll run XP. It will not run Vista. I have one, but I’m happy with Linux: it runs fast and reliably and the OpenOffice software is much easier to use than the new Office 2007 (which won’t run on the EEE).
