Netbooks Laptop

I want to upgrade the RAM in my Asus Eee PC (Intel Atom processor, 901 series, WIndows XP, etc.)
I’ve seen a few tutorials on how to install it on lesser versions of the Eee PC, which were also Linux machines. I was just wondering if it was possible to upgrade to 2gb and what kind/brand I would go about purchasing.

I am considering buying a laptop (preferably something small and easy to carry). I spotted the perfect laptop in a well known store. It is the Asus Eee PC 4GB with Linux Operating System. However, the more I looked at the product information I realised it only had 512mb memory and 4gb hard drive which made me question how good it actually is. I am still in love with the size, its exactly what I need. So can anyone with this laptop tell me whether it makes a good investment or not? And if not can you advise me about other laptops? i have a Asus Eee PC and when i start it up its fine but it hits a screen that say:
windows cou;d not start because the fallowing file is missing or corrupt:
/wondows/system32/config/system
i know i need the cd and i have it but not the cd drive to put it in so is there anyway i can use my desktop to transfer like 1 or to files on my usb and than install it from the usb
(and how do you boot from usb on this bios screen)

I was just looking at differnint distros of linux, and i saw one called eeebuntu. Ubuntu made specially for the Asus EEE PC Netbook (wich is what i have). I am currently running linux mint 7 Gloria, and I used USB Startup Disk Creator on mint with my 4gb SDHC Card. But when I go to BIOS, and select my boot device priority, it doesnt have “SD Card” like it used to, now it just says “Removeable Media”, and when I boot up, it just shows GRUB boot menu, and only gives me the option to boot mint. I am thinking about purchasing the Asus EEE PC 4G Surf (Galaxy Black) on Amazon.com for $350. I have read lots of reviews on the internet and I only have one question. The question is: Does the Asus EEE PC 4G Surf (Galaxy Black) have a slot on the bottom of the computer so that you can upgrade the RAM? In other words, is the RAM on this particular model upgradable at all?

I am selling my Asus Eee PC soon. I was just wondering what the value of it would be if it was used but, came in the original box with all the contents except the ac adapter. It will also be cleaned out and any problems will be fixed. It still has the Linux OS on it though.

ok so i got a new asus eee pc 10 inch laptop for my bday(yay)..so as most of ya know this laptop does not have a cdrom drive.so when i went to plug in my modem to be able to use internet at home it asked me for the cd to install the modem and since my laptop does not have a cd rom drive i was not able to use my house internet..i was told to buy an external cd rom so i went into ebay and bought a 24x USB External CD-ROM CDROM Drive for ASUS EEE PC..would this work??these are the specifications and feautures

ok i know the difference between them isnt big but i heard that the asus eee pc has xp on it and has the six cell battery which is obviously better than the 3 cell one, but there is a six cell battery sold seperately for the hp 2133.anyways what i wanted to ask was, which is smaller and with less weight like which one is gonna be more comfortable to carry with me in school the asus or the hp ? and which one will live longer with me.
btw : i intend to use it for writing documents like on microsoft word and making presentations and webs urfing like going on youtube and other sites

I installed the Windows 7 Release Candidate on my ASUS Eee PC 1000HE netbook, and it’s been great. However, ASUS just came out with a new BIOS update, and to my knowledge, there isn’t an updater program that’s compatible with Windows 7 (or, for that matter, Vista).
I have the ROM file for the update on a USB flash drive. Should I make the drive bootable and use an old-fashioned DOS updater? Is there a way to update the BIOS from within the BIOS setup screens?

I got a laptop (ASUS EEE PC) about 9 months ago, however it is running terribly and I don’t know why. How can I restore it to how it was when I purchased the product? I basically want to wipe the hard drive, and just have Windows XP and internet explorer on there. I have very little computer knowledge, but I know enough that i can uninstall / install where necessary. Likewise, I have no idea what it means to ‘flash’ a PC.
