I Have An Apple Macbook Connected To A Wireless Modem (2wire Gateway Dsl). How Do I Make My Mac Wireless?

Apple wants to sell me a router for $179.00. Do I need a router? What are my options? Thanks.

  1. You don’t need an AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express: those are Apple’s WiFi routers. They are cool, but you don’t need those – any WiFi network will work.
If your DSL modem has WiFi built in and your Mac has an Airport wireless card, you have everything you need. Simply set up/activate your WiFi Network (follow the instructions on either in the router manulal or from your internet provider) and your Mac will automatically find the network and sign you on (or ask for the network password, if you set one – and I always set a password for my WiFi networks).
    It’s really easy!
    Enjoy!

  2. Did it come with Apple Airport built-in?
    My iMac has it built-in.
