Lenovo S10 Vs Asus Eee Pc 1000he?
Hey everyone. I’ll be attending my first year of college this upcoming fall, and I need a little help in picking a laptop. I’ve never bought a laptop before so I’m not really sure what to look for in the specs. However, I have some interest in the netbooks because they’re light and simple. I want one that’s fast with a lot of memory and that’s durable. Both the Lenovo S10 and Asus eee pc 1000he seem to be very good netbooks, but which of the two do you think is better? Also, do you think netbooks are suitable for college students or would you recommend a regular notebook? Thanks for your help
Hello there.
Ok. You should consider what is important to you. Both netbooks have strengths and weaknesses but at the end of the day you are not going to go wrong with either.
The S10 has exceptional build quality, meaning you can throw it around a fair bit and it’ll still be happy. The 1000HE also has pretty good build quality, although the trackpad, in my opinion, is a little more clunky/unresponsive.
The matte finish of the S10 is again, in my opinion, nicer than the glossy finish of the 1000HE, which is a magnet for smudge marks.
In terms of battery life, the 1000HE has a 6-cell battery which boasts 9.5 hours of life (however conditions = 60% screen brightness, no wifi [I think]). The S10 comes with a 3 cell, and gets around 2.5 hours worth of life, however you can buy a 6 or even a 9 cell battery which will increase it’s life heaps. Having said that, it will also add weight.
The keyboard of the 1000HE is more roomy, given the chiclets and I find it more enjoyable to type on. That’s not to say that the keyboard of the S10 isn’t good.
There are many complaints about fan noise about the S10, however there is a BIOS update available that apparently stops this issue.
I honestly can’t tell you what to buy. Go and have a play, and see what appeals to you.
I hope this helps.
