Looking To Buy A Apple Macbook Pro For Graphic Design, Wondering What External Monitors Can Be Connected?
I actually am unsure of what computer I should get for graphic design. I am currently in college so I laptop on the go would be nice. But i need a big display, so an external monitor would do the trick. So I am asking what types of montors or screens can I hook up to it? can I hook up a regular tv to it? do the apple cinema displays also hook up and work as a television?
MacBook Pro will work with any Apple Cinema Display and with most other displays up to about 30 inch. It has mini-DVI output so you will need a “Mini-DVI to DVI Adapter” for any display with DVI connector, a “DVI to VGA Display Adapter” for any low-tech display with VGA connector, and a “DVI to Video Adapter” to connect to any TV or other device with S-video or composite video (“RCA” jack) input. See the link below.
For graphic design, consider the possibility of using two displays when you become rich and famous. For that, you should get a Mac Pro. You should also consider the inconvenience of having the MacBook Pro lid folded back as far as possible so you can see the external display. Also, the keypad of any laptop is a compromise.
A computer monitor, such as the Cinema Display, has no TV tuner. You could connect it to a TV as an external but most of today’s TVs are as big as the Cinema Display. Of course, you could buy satellite TV software for the MacBook (might have to run it in Windows) or buy a SlingBox, but the quality is sometimes a notch down from that of a TV with “cable”.
