To All Asus Eee Pc Users:
Would you recommend the Asus Eee PC (any model or OS)?
As a potential customer, I would like to know the pros and cons of the Eee PC, and if you are satisfied using it.
Also, does it hold up well with travel, i.e. being bumped around?
Does it do well with heavy tasks for a laptop, i.e. coding etc.?
And lastly, what version and OS would you recommend?
Thanks so much for your help ![]()

I am satisfied with my 4G. The screen and keyboard are about as small as can be usable. The newer models with the Atom processor are faster and have a larger keyboard and screen, so they should be easier to use. I have accidentally knocked my Eee off the passenger seat of my car onto the floor while it was on, and it suffered no damage. I installed Windows on my Eee after using nLite to slim down the install and get rid of some stuff I would never use in Windows. I didn’t care for the Xandros installation. I just wanted something that would work, and Xandros made it more difficult for me to get things done. The Eee is by no means a powerhouse. I wouldn’t recommend it if you were going to do anything besides web surfing, IM, and note taking. It’s niche is a small laptop you can take with you easily and use wherever you happen to be. It’s not a machine you’d want to spend a lot of time working with. It’s good for short tasks. I’ve never used it for more than 3 hours, and I don’t think I’d want to because of the 7″ screen and cramped keyboard on my 4G. A larger 901 or 1000 model might be more comfortable to use.
I’ve never owned one, but I’ve used one. I personally would not recommend them, as they are slow, super small, and terrible in design. The one I use was the $550, 900 20G model, not the cheapest one. The operating system is Lunux that comes with it, but it is Windows XP compatible. The laptop is not too sensitive though, just like most other laptops. The Asus Eee PC probably wouldn’t be able to handle heavy tasks or multitasking since the processor is only 0.90 GHz. It is just for basic things like internet browsing and school work. The only thing I like about it is that it is super light and that it has a solid state hard drive, but it’s only 16-20 GB. As I said before, I don’t recommend them since they are slow, super small, terrible design, and not to mention, they all come with Linux. I would prefer a computer with Windows Vista or at least a MAC. http://www.amazon.com/Eee-PC-900-Display…
But, if you still want one, they have the newer and faster ones with Windows XP Home on it. This is probably the fastest one.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001BYD…
