What is better for an Apple Macbook Pro, MATTE or GLOSSY High definition screen?

  1. I have both. A Macbook with a glossy screen and an Apple Cinema Display 20″ that’s matte.
Since I do a lot of critical work as a photographer I prefer the matte screen. But this is partly because it’s larger, it’s in a controlled place (my studio) and it’s what I’m most used to.
Still, the glossy Macbook is fine for on the go work – except (as someone pointed out) in bright light. Then it sucks! Sadly, glossy is the only choice for a basic Macbook, or at least it was when I got mine two years ago.
The glossy screen seems to give sharper rendition of detail and is fine for most things. But for fine tuning and editing photographic detail I prefer the matte.
So … for what it’s worth, I’d go with a matte screen on the Pro.

  2. Glossy looks better, but in the sunlight or any kind of light, the glare makes the screen unreadable. I am talking about direct sunlight though. Matte typically looks worse in quality, but it does not have much glare when outdoors. It is really how you want to use it. My HP laptop has a glossy screen, and it works just fine, as long as I don’t have my back against the sun outside lol.
I would say go with glossy, as it really does look better.

  3. Glossy is shiny Matte is sort of dull otherwise they are about the same. take a stroll over to Best Buy or your local Apple store you should be able to see which is best for your eyes
